Behind the modest façade of the Craft Museum of Finland, located in the heart of Jyväskylä's city center, you will find experiences for all senses and age groups. The museum combines nostalgia with contemporary in just the right recipe, so the whole family enjoys the museum. The three-story specialized museum tells the story of a Finnish handicraft as part of the weave of history.
The permanent exhibition Craft - A Touch of Life describes the presence of handicrafts in one’s life from cradle to grave. In the Sense Space you can experience the world of craftsmanship in all senses. Especially children will enjoy that you can for once touch something in a museum! In the other permanent exhibition Dressed with Pride, Finnish national costumes relay the story of people from our past and their festive costumes.
Temporary exhibitions portray newer trends in the handicrafts as well as highlight old traditions. In the Open Workshop, both children and grown-ups can tinker with different kind of materials. During the guided tours, you will hear many memorable stories in a short time. Finish you visit with a unique souvenir from our Museum Shop that sells only Finnish handicraft.
